Traveling may get easier for people 75 and older
The TSA announced this week that it will not require passengers who look 75 and older to remove their shoes and jackets when flying through Portland, Oregon, Orlando, Denver and Chicago. Not seeing the elderly population as a terrorism risk coupled with enhanced risk for falling, the TSA will allow some passengers going through these four airports to skip the processes that we have become accustomed to since the enhanced security measures were introduced in 2001. Look young for your age? Take is as a compliment that you are told to remove your shoes even when going through these airports. Similar to carding for alcohol, it is based on a persons appeared age. This may offer some relief to older passengers who have a difficult time removing their shoes or jackets while standing in long airport lines. These modifications are for test purposes at this time and only at certain checkpoints at the airports participating in the test. More information can be found at the TSA website.
